Position Overview
One of our Partners in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to provide day-shift locum coverage in their Neuroscience ICU. This is an inpatient-only ICU role supporting a high-acuity neuroscience service at a Level I Trauma Center.
Pay ranking: This assignment is structured at a Top 15% pay ranking compared to similar NSICU PA/ACNP locum roles based on 2025 market data, depending on final rate selection.
Providers must be able to arrive the day prior to the first shift for orientation.
Assignment Highlights

Day shifts only: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Block scheduling across three defined coverage periods

No call
-
No ER coverage
-
Inpatient ICU responsibilities only

Responds to inpatient codes

Integrated EPIC EMR
-
Prepaid travel and lodging

Malpractice insurance provided

HPA Healthcare is a Joint Commission–certified agency
Job Responsibilities
-
Provide day-shift coverage in the Neuroscience ICU
-
Manage ICU-level neurological patients
-
Perform and manage:
-
Arterial lines
-
Central lines
-
Lumbar punctures
-
Ventilator management
Participate in multidisciplinary ICU rounds
Respond to inpatient codes
Collaborate with neurosurgery, neurology, neurointensivists, nursing, and ancillary teams
Document all care in EPIC
Skills & Experience
-
Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Acute Care certification required
-
Minimum 1 year of ICU or acute care experience

Comfortable with ICU procedures and ventilator management

Strong communication and team-based care skills
