Position Summary

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess at least 2 years of experience, preferably in a high-risk or high-census Labor and Delivery unit, and be able to function independently during night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage care for patients during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
• Provide high-quality nursing care to postpartum patients and newborns.
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, including C-sections and vaginal deliveries.
• Perform clinical tasks such as IV therapy, administration of medications, fetal monitoring, and neonatal care.
• Educate new parents on infant care and discharge protocols.
• Participate in interdepartmental collaboration with specialists and support staff.

Shift Information

This position requires evening shifts, working 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (19:00 - 07:00). Weekend coverage will be needed every other or every third weekend.

Patient Ratios

• Days: 1:1 for labor
• Nights: 1:1 for labor
• Postpartum: 1:3

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license
• 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing preferred
• Experience in high-risk or high-volume maternity units preferred
• Certifications: BLS, NRP; AWHONN Advanced and STABLE certifications are preferred

Preferred Skills

• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills
• Experience with high-risk obstetric care and procedures
• Knowledge of neonatal resuscitation and newborn care
• Ability to assist with various labor and delivery procedures

Work Environment

This role will be based in a Level II maternity unit with a Level I nursery, admitting patients over 35 weeks of gestation, including those with gestational hypertensives and low-risk patients. The facility features a 14-bed LDRP environment, with an opportunity to float between units based on patient needs.

Location

This position is available in various locations including, but not limited to, Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent, offering flexibility and diverse opportunities.

Additional Information

A vehicle is required for this position, as floating to other units may be necessary based on skill set. Must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment where support services such as IV teams, physical therapy, and rapid response teams are readily available.
