Position: Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: Anchorage, AK

Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (08:30 - 17:00)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist to join our acute care hospital team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with adult patients in various settings, including acute care and rehabilitation facilities. This position is essential in providing comprehensive speech and language therapy to patients with a variety of diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, evaluations, and documentation related to patients' speech and language needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
• Manage dysphagia through bedside swallow evaluations and the application of compensatory strategies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on communication disorders and strategies for improvement.
• Complete required certifications, including MBS-IMP.

Preferred Qualifications

• BLS Certification
• State License: AK
• Experience with alternative communication devices and augmentative communication techniques.
• Familiarity with evaluation tools and patient care planning.
• Experience managing various adult conditions, including CVA, degenerative diseases, and TBI.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
• Experience working in acute care, outpatient, and rehabilitation settings preferred.

Work Environment

This position involves working in an acute care hospital environment with a patient census of 50-70 individuals daily. As part of a dynamic team of 5-6 SLPs during weekdays and 3-4 on weekends, you will play a crucial role in addressing the needs of patients across the continuum of care, from ICU level to skilled nursing and outpatient settings. ICU rotation is not required, but the SLP will be assessed for clinical readiness to cover ICU as needed.
