Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Dialysis to join our dynamic healthcare team. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with recent expertise in acute hemodialysis utilizing Fresenius equipment and peritoneal dialysis experience using Baxter equipment.

Shift Information

• Type: Night Shift
• Schedule: 3x12 Hour Shifts (17:45 - 06:15)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for adults and geriatric patients with various kidney issues, including end-stage renal disease and acute kidney injury.
• Operate and maintain Fresenius and Baxter dialysis equipment.
• Monitor patient vitals and treatment response during dialysis procedures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
• Document patient care and treatment in the electronic health record (Epic).

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Recent experience in acute hemodialysis with Fresenius equipment (within the last year).
• Experience with Baxter equipment in peritoneal dialysis.
• Certifications: BLS is required; ACLS and CDN or CNN are preferred.

Skills and Competencies

• Proficient in monitoring patients during dialysis and managing acute medical situations.
• Familiar with hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Unit Details

• Daily Census: Approximately 16 patients.
• Number of Beds: 10
• Patient Ratios:
  • Day Shift: 1:2 and 1:1 bedside
  • Night Shift: 1:1 on call
• Special Equipment: Fresenius T Hemodialysis Machines, Baxter peritoneal dialysis cycler, and Sigma spectrum IV pump.

Additional Information

Orientation for this position involves 24 hours of training, including 12 hours of intensive care unit training and 12 hours in the dialysis room and peritoneal dialysis procedures. Scrubs will be provided for the role.
