Job Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist, under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services and Technical Supervisors, is responsible for delivering comprehensive respiratory care therapy and managing supportive equipment as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.

Essential Job Functions

• Administer respiratory therapy under medical direction, focusing on the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
• Assist in intubation and manage ventilator set-up and operations.
• Collect relevant information to assess patient needs, including disease education and collaborating with other healthcare professionals when necessary.
• Build a rapport with patients and caregivers, as well as with team members, to create an environment conducive to achieving therapeutic goals.
• Provide and document education for patients and caregivers based on identified needs, ensuring clarity and understanding.
• Perform additional duties and participate in projects as assigned.
• Adhere to organizational competencies and behavioral standards.
• Be able to lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull at least 5 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 1 hour per day.
• Maintain regular contact with medical personnel and visitors.

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• BLS - AHA certified.
• ACLS certified.
• PALS certified.
• Current and valid New Jersey Respiratory Care license.
• Current and valid New Jersey Registered Respiratory Therapist credential.
