Description
Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Alaska
Shift Details:
- Day Shift: 3x12-Hour Shifts (06:45 - 19:15)
- Weekend Coverage: Every Third Weekend
- Call Requirements: Yes, limited to covering for call-offs
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our dedicated surgical team. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, providing high-quality patient care in various surgical specialties.
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in Alaska
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Operating Room setting
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, BLS, CNOR
- Experience in Trauma Level II settings is required; Trauma Level I experience is preferred
- Travel experience is required
Clinical Skills Required:
- Ability to scrub in various types of surgeries including, but not limited to:
- General Surgery (e.g., appendectomy, cholecystectomy)
- Trauma Surgery (e.g., amputations, gunshot wounds)
- Orthopedic Surgery (e.g., ACL reconstruction, joint replacements)
- Gynecological Surgery (e.g., hysterectomy, C-sections)
- Neurology Surgery (e.g., craniotomy, spinal procedures)
- Vascular Surgery (e.g., AAA repair)
- Experience in the following procedures is preferred:
- Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS)
- Robotic Surgery (e.g., Da Vinci Xi Surgical System)
- Mediastinoscopy
- Endoscopic procedures
Daily Operations:
- Patient to Nurse Ratio: 1:1
- Daily Census: Approximately 40 patients
- Number of OR rooms: 18
Interdisciplinary Support:
- Access to Interpretation Services, Radiology, Lift Teams, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretaries
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge and experience in charting systems, preferably Epic
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols
- Ability to manage emergency situations effectively
Additional Information:
- Orientation Hours: 40 hours
- Orientation provided prior to assignment start date
