Description
Position: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: Alaska
Shift: Day 4x10-Hour (07:00 - 17:00)
Responsibilities:
The Endoscopy Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in endoscopic procedures including EGD, ERCP, colonoscopy, and bronchoscopies.
- Monitoring patients during conscious sedation and recovery.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Handling and labeling specimens accurately.
- Maintaining and operating endoscopic equipment and ION technology.
- Participating in the pre- and post-procedural care of patients.
Qualifications:
- Alaska RN license (required for automatic offer).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an endoscopy or similar setting.
- Preferred certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and SGNA Certification.
- Experience with EUS, EBUS, ERCP, colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy is essential.
Skills:
- Ability to monitor patient comfort and safety during procedures.
- Proficient in operating endoscopic equipment.
- Knowledge of specimen handling and labeling procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
Work Environment:
This position will be in an acute hospital setting with a focus on endoscopy services. The facility operates with a daily patient census of approximately 15 and has two procedure rooms. Professional interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
Job Commitments:
Candidate must be willing to fulfill the following commitments:
- Participate in on-call rotations every 5th weekend.
- Request for time off is limited to one request per contract period (5 days or less).
Patient Demographics:
The Endoscopy Registered Nurse will care for a diverse patient demographic, including neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, with varying diagnoses ranging from foreign bodies to GI bleeds.
Orientation and Training:
Orientation will consist of 24 hours of training to ensure familiarity with facility protocols and procedures.
Additional Information:
Parking is provided free of charge at the facility. A strong preference will be given to candidates with experience and the required skills in EUS, EBUS, ERCP, and ION.
