Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Operating Room Nurse with a strong background in surgical settings. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in operating room practices, specifically with a focus on cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries, alongside a base in general surgery.
Shift Details
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4x10 hour shifts with rotating day off.
- Weekend Requirements: Friday 5 PM through Monday 6:30 AM.
- Call Requirements: Up to 2 overnights per week and 4 weekends per 13-week contract.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of current experience in the operating room.
- Experience in circulating and operating room roles is required.
- Scrub experience is preferred, especially with open heart surgeries.
- Strong proficiency in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries is essential, including general surgery exposure.
- Additional case experience in areas such as da Vinci robotics, pediatrics, trauma, neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular is highly preferred.
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records systems within the last 3 years is required.
- Experience in a Trauma Level I facility is highly preferred.
- No first-time travelers; candidates must have completed a travel assignment within the past 12 months.
Licensing and Certifications
- Active Iowa nursing license or a compact/multistate license at the time of submission.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC/American Red Cross.
Work History Requirements
Candidates must provide a complete work history which clearly indicates 24 months of current operating room experience. A professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months is preferred.
