Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to join our team in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting. The ideal candidates will possess recent experience in PCU and have strong skills in managing complex patient care. Candidates with oncology experience are preferred but not required. Familiarity with the EPIC charting system is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Float to various Oncology Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed.
• Ensure staff and patient safety in a secure corrections unit environment.

Shift Information

Shifts available include:

• Day 3x12-Hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
• Night 3x12-Hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)

Weekend shifts will vary based on unit needs. Shifts may alternate between PCU and MS assignments.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in the current PCU specialty within the last 3 years.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) are preferred.
• Charting System: Experience with EPIC is required.

Skills

Candidates should possess the following skills:

• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Telemetry monitoring
• IV therapy, including starting IVs and management of central and peripheral lines
• Administration of blood products
• Respiratory management skills including CPAP/BiPAP and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Feeding tube care and hemodialysis management

Work Environment

This position is within a corrections unit for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. The unit is locked, requiring access controlled by Corrections Officers. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 in the PCU and 1:4-5 in the MS setting. Staff safety is a top priority.

Additional Details

Orientation will require 72 hours of training before beginning your assignment. Candidates must be prepared to meet the unique challenges and responsibilities of nursing within a correctional facility.
