Position: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Unit: LDRP

Shift Details:

• Shift Type: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (2 shifts per contract)

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery preferred.
• Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP (preferred).
• Experience with patient ratios: 1:3.
• Charting System: Epic.
• Must have a vehicle for this assignment.

Patient Demographics:

• Patient Age Groups: Neonates and Adults.
• Daily Census: 2-5 patients.

Patient Care Responsibilities:

• Provide antepartum care and procedures.
• Conduct non-stress tests (NST) and perform reflex checks, edema assessments, and clonus evaluations.
• Conduct sterile vaginal exams and triage obstetrical patients.
• Utilize external fetal heart monitoring (EFM) for fetal monitoring.
• Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Administer medications, including magnesium sulfate therapy and pitocin (oxytocin).
• Manage labor and delivery processes.
• Assist with pain management, including epidural anesthesia.

Special Unit Details:

• Staffing follows AWHONN standards: 1:1 for active labor and 1:3 for postpartum care.
• Ability to float to other units based on skill sets and unit needs.
• Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.

• Type of Facility: Critical Access/ Level III Trauma Center.
• Total Staffed Beds: 25.
• Teaching Hospital.
• Scrub Color: Any color allowed; scrubs provided for specific units (OR, Critical Care, ED, and Maternal Child).
• Parking Cost: No fee.

Orientation:

• Orientation Hours: 36 hours.
