Position: Registered Nurse - PCU

Shift Availability:

Night shifts: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)

Work Environment:

This role is located in a mixed acuity unit, encompassing PCU, Med-Surg Telemetry (MS Tele), and medical-surgical patients.

Qualifications:

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 1 year in PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years is required.
• Charge Experience: Preferred.
• Patient Ratio Experience: Should be comfortable with a patient ratio of 1:7.
• Teaching Hospital Experience: Preferred.
• Travel Experience: Not required but travelers will be accepted if experienced.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Needed: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Preferred: PALS, TCAR.

Required Skills:

• Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response
• Telemetry Monitoring (both unit and remote)
• Rapid Response/Code Teams Participation
• Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias
• Post-MI Care
• IV Insulin Protocols and Management of Insulin Drips
• Central Line Care and Management
• Post Hemodialysis Management
• Care for Ventilated Patients
• Chest Tube Management and Non-invasive Airway Management
• Feeding Tube Care and Management
• Wound Care, including advanced wound care solutions

Patient Population:

The patient age groups include adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Primary diagnoses include surgical pre and post operations, ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, and overflow medical diagnosis patients.

Work Schedule:

• Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:5
  • Nights: 1:7
  • Weekends: 1:5
• Floating Requirement: Yes, staff may be floated to corresponding sister units.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend is required.

Interdisciplinary Support:

Staff will collaborate with various support services such as Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams.

Orientation:

New hires will undergo 12 hours of orientation to ensure familiarity with processes and protocols.
