Position: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Location: New York, NY

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry for a dynamic healthcare environment. This position requires strong skills in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and comprehensive patient care. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record working with telemetry patients, pacemakers, and cardiac pharmacological interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to patients on the Med-Surg/Telemetry unit.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and promptly respond to emergency situations.
• Administer IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage central/PICC line care.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, including managing dysrhythmias and medication protocols.
• Utilize Epic for charting and patient management.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure holistic patient care.
• Carry out wound care procedures and understand isolation precautions.
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 2 years in a similar nursing role required.
• Licensure: Current New York state nursing license required.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 on days, 1:6 on nights, 1:5 on weekends.
• Travel Experience: Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.

Work Schedule

• Shift: Day shift, 4x12 hours from 07:00 to 19:00.
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend.

Facility Overview

The facility is a tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds, offering comprehensive medical services across various specialties. The hospital is committed to delivering exceptional patient care while fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth.

Patient Population

The unit specializes in the complex care of adults and geriatrics, particularly those post-procedure for PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, and post-myocardial infarction. Daily census averages around 38 patients, with emphasis on cardiac monitoring and pharmacological interventions.

Additional Information

• Orientation hours: 12 hours.
• Float requirements: Yes, staff may be required to float to Med-Surg.
• Daily hospital interaction with IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and other interdisciplinary supports.
