Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses. The RN advocates for individuals and families and is accountable for adherence to practice standards and professional development in accordance with nursing regulations and standards of care.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a designated group of patients, acting as the primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and their families on health promotion and disease management utilizing available resources.
• Administer medications safely and in compliance with established policies.
• Contribute to effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and supply management.
• Ensure compliance with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance initiatives, supporting unit councils and peer review practices.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education requirements.
• Integrate nursing research and current evidence into daily practice.
• Create a supportive learning environment for new employees and nursing students.
• Uphold all organizational values and perform other assigned duties.

Required Skills & Experience

• Registered Nursing experience of six (6) months to three (3) years.
• Management experience ranging from zero (0) to three (3) years.
• A minimum of five (5) years of direct nursing experience.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Judgment and critical thinking capabilities.
• Organizational skills and understanding of healthcare systems.
• Effective planning and time management abilities.
• Problem-solving proficiency.
• Commitment to quality and reliability in patient care.
• Knowledge of safety and risk management practices.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Prior clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Education

• Required Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure

• Required Certifications & Licensure:
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Relevant skills certifications, such as ACLS, PALS, or TNCC, as required by the assigned unit.

Schedule Notes

Position available for a Cardiac Telemetry RN in a Stepdown/PCU unit with specific telemetry skills required. Full-time schedule includes 12-hour night shifts at 36 hours per week, including every other weekend.

Candidates must have experience in a cardiac telemetry department, along with specific knowledge of cardiac procedures and patient management.
