Position: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

• Travel Experience Required: No
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)
• Float Requirement: May float to other areas if not needed on home unit.
• Weekend Coverage: Every Other
• Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 Request
• Orientation Hours: 24

Qualifications:

• Years of Experience: 2 years required
• Teaching Hospital Experience: Preferred
• Certifications:
  • ACLS (*preferred)
  • BLS (*required)

Required Skills:

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring
• Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• IV therapy and phlebotomy management
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Peripheral line care and management, including PICC line management
• Medication administration, including Heparin protocols and PCA
• Wound care and management, including surgical drains
• Oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions and PPE

Work Environment:

This position is situated in a Surgical Step-Down unit known as the Progressive Care Unit. The setting includes interaction with interdisciplinary support teams such as IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretary.

• Colorectal Surgery
• Other Post-Surgical Overflow
• General Medicine

Additional Requirements:

Candidates must be able to pass the telemetry test and have some experience monitoring telemetry patients. Epic experience is also required.
