Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Medical PCU (Progressive Care Unit). This position involves working on a night shift schedule, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week.

Job Details

• Shift: Night (19:00 - 07:30)
• Type: 3x12-Hour Shifts
• Float Required: Yes, to different units as necessary
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a PCU/Stepdown setting required.
• Certifications:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - Preferred
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
• Skills:
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy
  • Management of central and peripheral line care
  • Administering heparin protocols and managing cardiac drips (no titration)
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) usage
• Experience with Epic: Required

Patient Care

Provide care for a wide variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to renal, hepatology, cardiology, and pulmonology. Specialize in adult cystic fibrosis patients.

Patient Ratios

• Days: 1:3
• Nights: 1:3
• Weekends: 1:3

Interdisciplinary Support

Collaborate with IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation.

Special Procedures and Equipment

• Administer cardiac drips and manage heparin and insulin drips.
• Utilize high flow O2 and heated high flow O2 as necessary.
• Operational equipment includes lift equipment, IV ultrasound machines, and bladder scanners.

Scheduling Information

Weekdays and some weekends required, with rotating holidays. Orientation consists of 36 hours.
