Job Summary
The Neurointerventional Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures under the guidance of a physician within the Angio Interventional Radiology or Neuro IR services. This includes procedures such as extra-cranial and intracranial angiography, vertebroplasty, spinal injections, myelograms, cisternograms, embolizations, cryoablations, coilings, and clot retrievals. The role serves multiple stakeholders including employees, medical staff, patients, and regulatory agencies, with a primary focus on enhancing customer service.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for all IR and neurointerventional procedures including discograms, aspirations, therapeutic injections, angiography, and ablations.
- Assist in clinical support during neurointerventional procedures such as tumor, epistaxis, and spinal lesion embolization, maintaining sterile and non-sterile environments.
- Operate advanced imaging equipment following established guidelines and imaging protocols for interventional and neurointerventional procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and adherence to radiation safety practices.
- Instruct students and residents; perform preceptor duties as required.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on imaging equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies necessary for IR and neuro IR procedures.
- Utilize information systems for interventional scheduling.
- Review coding procedures to ensure accurate billing for all neuro IR and IR procedures.
- Engage in continuous learning by attending lectures, seminars, and reading relevant literature.
- Adhere to accepted clinical principles while performing or supervising interventional diagnostic procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information at all times.
- Comply with hospital policies and procedures related to incident reporting.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Education
- Required Education: Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology.
Certifications & Licensure
- New York State license as a Radiologic Technologist.
- ARRT(R) Certification.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association, HSI, or American Red Cross).
Schedule Notes
This position requires 13 weeks of 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM shifts, with on-call responsibilities every other weekend. A background in IR and neurointerventional experience is essential.
