Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that Respiratory Therapy services, including the evaluation and treatment of patients, are executed in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner. The service audience encompasses inpatients, outpatients, staff members, and affiliated community groups as required.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed by management.
• Perform aerosol therapy treatments.
• Conduct CPT/Flutter/PEP mask therapy for secretion mobilization.
• Execute incentive spirometry therapy.
• Carry out M.D.I. therapy.
• Perform suctioning procedures as necessary.
• Conduct extubation procedures.
• Oversee oxygen tank safety protocols.
• Administer oxygen therapy using all approved devices.
• Manage BiPAP-CPAP therapy and respond to alarms accordingly.
• Implement cough assist/vest therapy.
• Manage high flow cannula/humidifier therapy and associated alarms.
• Perform pulmonary function screen diagnostic procedures.
• Execute fit testing procedures in coordination with Employee Health.
• Conduct pulse oximetry procedures.
• Perform adult EKG procedures.
• Execute pediatric EKG procedures.
• Deliver adult BLS life support.
• Provide pediatric BLS life support.
• Administer neonatal BLS life support.
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms.
• Conduct arterial puncture and analysis for blood gas laboratory services.
• Perform quality control tasks for the blood gas laboratory.
• Manage the patient healthcare information system (Soarian).
• Administer the medication administration program (MAK).
• Oversee the medication dispensing system (McKesson).
• Verify physician orders related to pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Accurately record and report the results of all procedures.
• Perform BLS when required, following certification.
• Follow department delivery standards consistently.
• Maintain files and bookkeeping records in accordance with departmental policy.
• Assist in departmental in-service programs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• One (1) year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.

Required Education

• Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Valid New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Schedule Notes

This position requires working nights, 36 hours per week. Candidates should possess experience in critical care, NICU, and familiarity with V60 BiPAP/980 Puritan Bennett Ventilators. Participation in external patient transports is also required.
