Position: PACU RN

Location: Alaska

Day Shift: 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 17:30)

Variable Shift Times:

• 07:00 - 19:00
• 08:00 - 20:00
• 09:00 - 21:00
• 10:00 - 22:00
• 11:00 - 23:00

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing. The successful candidate will provide exceptional nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their comfort and safety during the postoperative period.

• Provide care for patients in the Phase I and Phase II PACU.
• Monitor vital signs, manage medications, and assess patient recovery status.
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and manage central lines as required.
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias, providing appropriate interventions.
• Conduct pain assessments and manage pain relief protocols, including PCA pump management.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate patient recovery.
• Participate in patient education regarding postoperative care.

• Active RN license in the state of Alaska is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Preferred experience in Pediatric PACU and trauma level II care.
• Knowledge and experience with a variety of anesthesia types including general and monitored anesthesia care (MAC).
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (preferred).

• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Children, Adults, Geriatrics.
• Daily Census: Approximately 40 patients.
• Patient Ratios: 1:2 during days and nights.

• Comprehensive orientation of 18 hours upon starting.

• Weekend shifts are required — one regular shift and one call shift per month.
• Guaranteed hours of 60 hours per 2 weeks.
• Candidates must be at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify as non-locals.
