Position Overview

Seeking a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery. This position involves caring for patients during labor and delivery, with a focus on providing high-quality care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the health and well-being of expectant mothers and newborns.
• Utilize electronic charting systems, preferably Epic, for accurate patient documentation.
• Conduct assessments, including non-stress tests and sterile vaginal exams.
• Administer medications and therapies, including Magnesium Sulfate and Pitocin.
• Recognize and manage abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Provide pain management support, including epidural anesthesia administration.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams comprising Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Social Services, and more.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Patient Ratios: 1:3 for postpartum care, 1:1 for active labor
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, requiring two weekend shifts per contract

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery; 2 years preferred.
• Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP (preferred).
• Skills: Pain management and epidural anesthesia (preferred).
• Ability to float between units as needed.
• Must have a vehicle for transportation to various facilities.

Patient Demographics

Caring for a diverse patient population, including both neonates and adults. Expected daily census ranges from 2 to 5 patients, with a maximum of 10 beds in the unit.

Orientation and Training

A comprehensive orientation program consisting of 36 hours of training will be provided to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

Facility Overview

This role is within a critical access and Level III trauma center, serving a teaching hospital environment with a total of 25 staffed beds.
