Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated professional to ensure that Respiratory Therapy services are provided efficiently, accurately, and reliably. The services will cater to a diverse range of individuals, including inpatients, outpatients, staff, and community groups.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed by management.
• Perform aerosol therapy treatments.
• Conduct CPT, Flutter, and PEP Mask therapy for secretion mobilization.
• Administer incentive spirometry therapy.
• Provide Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) therapy.
• Execute suctioning procedures as required.
• Manage extubation procedures.
• Ensure oxygen tank safety compliance.
• Administer oxygen therapy using approved devices.
• Oversee BiPAP and CPAP therapy, including alarm management.
• Conduct cough assist and vest therapy.
• Manage high flow cannula and humidifier therapy, including alarm management.
• Perform pulmonary function screening diagnostic procedures.
• Conduct fit testing in collaboration with Employee Health.
• Perform pulse oximetry procedures.
• Conduct adult and pediatric EKG procedures.
• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) for adults, pediatrics, and neonates.
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms.
• Perform arterial puncture and analysis for blood gas laboratory testing.
• Conduct quality control for blood gas laboratory operations.
• Utilize patient healthcare information systems effectively.
• Manage medication administration and dispensing systems.
• Verify physician orders for pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Accurately record and report results of all procedures.
• Perform BLS when necessary, upon certification.
• Adhere to department delivery standards.
• Maintain accurate files and bookkeeping records in line with department policies.
• Assist in departmental in-service training programs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• One (1) year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.

Education

Required Education

• Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• Registration with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA).

Schedule Notes

This position requires night shifts, totaling 36 hours per week. Experience in critical care, NICU, and with V60 BiPAP/980 Puritan Bennett ventilators is essential. Candidates must also be able to participate in external patient transports.
