Position Details

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) for a night shift position. The role will offer the opportunity to provide critical care to patients undergoing treatment for various hematologic disorders in an inpatient oncology unit.

Key Information

• Unit: 14 East, West and 15 West, Bone Marrow Transplant
• Shift: Night 3x12 hours (19:00 - 07:30)
• Scheduling Type: Self-scheduling
• Floating Requirements: Yes, to other MedSurg Oncology units
• Orientation Hours: 72
• Patient Age Groups: Adults and Geriatrics
• Daily Patient Census: 33
• Number of Beds: 36

Experience Requirements

Applicants must have:

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in hematology oncology within the most recent 3 years.
• Current specialty experience for a clinical pass.

Certifications Required

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemistry Certification

Preferred Certifications

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Essential Skills

• IV Therapy and Infusions
• Accessing and Managing Ports
• Administration of blood and blood products
• Centrally drawn blood from implanted lines
• Chemotherapy administration and post-chemotherapy fluid handling
• Monitoring and interpreting dysrhythmias
• Recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values

The successful candidate will provide care in a variety of settings, focusing on:

• Bone Marrow Transplant
• Inpatient oncology

• Providing targeted nursing care to patients with a range of hematologic disorders, including:
• Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)
• Acute Myeloid Leukemia (Adult)
• Amyloidosis
• Aplastic Anemia
• Chronic Leukemia
• Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)
• Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
• Hodgkin's Lymphoma
• Multiple Myeloma
• Myelodysplastic Syndrome
• Myeloproliferative Disorders
• Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
• Participating in special procedures including autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic transplants.
• Adhering to strict infection prevention protocols and fall prevention strategies.
