Job Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring that Respiratory Therapy services, including the evaluation and treatment of patients, are delivered in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner. The role serves inpatients, outpatients, staff, employees, and affiliated community groups as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

• Administers respiratory therapy procedures as directed.
• Performs aerosol therapy treatments.
• Conducts CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask therapy for secretion mobilization.
• Provides incentive spirometry therapy.
• Delivers M.D.I. therapy.
• Carries out suctioning and extubation procedures.
• Ensures oxygen tank safety.
• Administers oxygen therapy using approved devices.
• Manages BiPAP-CPAP therapy and associated alarms.
• Conducts cough assist/vest therapy.
• Manages high flow cannula/humidifier therapy and alarms.
• Performs pulmonary function screen diagnostic procedures.
• Conducts fit testing procedures in collaboration with Employee Health.
• Performs pulse oximetry procedures.
• Executes adult and pediatric EKG procedures.
• Provides adult, pediatric, and neonatal BLS life support.
• Handles mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms.
• Executes arterial puncture and analysis for blood gas laboratory.
• Implements quality control for blood gas laboratory.
• Manages patient healthcare information systems.
• Oversees medication administration and dispensing systems.
• Verifies physician’s orders for pulmonary and cardiology procedures.
• Records and reports the results of all procedures accurately.
• Responds to emergencies by providing BLS as necessary.
• Adheres to departmental delivery standards.
• Maintains accurate files and bookkeeping records according to policy.
• Assists in the departmental in-service program.
• Performs other related duties as needed.

Preferred Skills & Experience

Education

Required Education

• Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS and ACLS Certifications from the American Heart Association.

Schedule Notes

Looking for candidates to start as soon as possible. This position requires night shifts, 36 hours per week for a period of 13 weeks. Relevant experience in critical care, NICU, V60 BiPAP/980 Puritan Bennett Ventilators, and EPIC is required. Candidates must also be able to participate in external patient transports.
