Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Antepartum care to join our Maternal Special Care unit. This role requires a passion for providing high-quality maternity care and a commitment to supporting patients through their antepartum and postpartum journeys.

Shift Details

• Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Weekend Coverage: Every Other Weekend
• Float Required: Yes, to different units within the organization as needed

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Providing comprehensive nursing care to antepartum and postpartum patients
• Administering medications and treatments per established protocols
• Monitoring patients' vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment
• Assisting with labor and delivery when necessary
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the health and safety of patients
• Maintaining thorough documentation of patient assessments and care plans
• Educating patients and families regarding their healthcare plans and postpartum recovery

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

• Registered Nurse license and at least 2 years of nursing experience
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:3
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and experience with Epic software
• Ability to maintain central lines and assist with high-risk deliveries
• Competence in assessment techniques relevant to antepartum and postpartum care

Work Environment

This position will be situated in a high-risk antepartum unit, with interdisciplinary support from various departments such as IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. The RN will engage with a diverse patient population, including infants and adults, with a focus on maternal health.

Patient Population

• Antepartum Patients
• Postpartum Patients with telemetry or continuous pulse oximetry
• Postpartum magnesium therapy
• Patients with postpartum intrauterine fetal demise (PP IUFD)

Additional Information

The role requires adherence to safety protocols, including flu vaccination compliance. Orientation will include 24 hours of initial training, and the daily patient census averages around 9 patients in a unit with 17 beds and 14 rooms.
