Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing exceptional patient care and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Details

• Unit: 4 Ross CVICU
• Shift: Night (3x12-Hour: 19:00 - 07:30) or Day (3x12-Hour: 07:00 - 19:30)
• Block Schedules: Yes
• Years of Experience: 2 years preferred
• Patient Ratios: Days: 1:2 | Nights: 1:2 | Weekends: 1:2
• Float Required: Yes, will float to different units within the organization as needed
• Weekend Coverage: Every Other Weekend | Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule block
• Orientation Hours: 36

Patient Demographics

The CVICU focuses on adult patients, providing care for those with complex cardiovascular conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to CVICU patients
• Monitor and manage vital signs and patient responses
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Provide education and support to patients and families
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care

Required Qualifications

• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• 2 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred
• Experience with Epic electronic charting system
• Demonstrated skills in IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, and ventilator management
• Knowledge of managing advanced cardiovascular devices (e.g., IABP, ECMO, VAD) is an asset

Skills and Competencies

• Proficient in arterial line management and blood product administration
• Ability to perform procedures such as CVP monitoring and tracheostomy care
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
• Commitment to infection prevention and patient safety
