Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to apply the nursing process in caring for veteran patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. This role involves ensuring that documentation accurately reflects patient needs assessment, interdisciplinary treatment plans, clinical interventions, and evaluations of patient responses to treatments. Additionally, this position includes the responsibility of assigning and evaluating the work of non-nursing direct care providers within the operating room.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement effective nursing care plans.
• Perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
• Document assessments and evaluations thoroughly in patient records.
• Supervise and evaluate the performance of non-nursing care providers assigned to the operating room.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plans.
• Capability to perform various professional nursing tasks.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and team members.

Education

• Required: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Certifications & Licensure

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Required: New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license
• Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA
• Preferred: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Work Schedule

This position is scheduled in the Ambulatory Surgery - Operating Room from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, four days a week. There is no requirement for weekend or holiday shifts, and no on-call duties are expected. Flexibility to float within perioperative services if needed is required.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required for this position.
