Job Summary

The Cardiac Cath Lab Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe delivery of cardiac services to patients. This role requires adherence to safety procedures, effective monitoring, and management of cardiac care technology and supplies.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safe procedures during the delivery of cardiac services.
• Successfully pass the Monitor Technician Certification and Annual Telemetry Review.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the use and care of technical equipment, including x-ray and film processing equipment.
• Identify equipment problems and safety hazards, taking appropriate measures to initiate repairs.
• Understand the mechanics of various Cath Lab systems, troubleshooting issues, and correcting deficiencies.
• Maintain a downtime log and complete accurate procedural records and technical notations.
• Accurately obtain, calculate, and analyze hemodynamic data.
• Assist in the preparation of patients for procedures, ensuring maximum comfort and safety.
• Educate patients regarding procedures before and after the process.
• Ensure proper completion of reports and documentation, including x-ray requisitions and film labels.
• Handle Cine Films correctly, including mailing and retrieving.
• Regularly check supplies for expiration dates and identify expired equipment promptly.
• Maintain orderly and clean supplies, ensuring appropriate levels of necessary radiographic equipment are met.
• Prepare the procedure room and lay out the necessary supplies prior to procedures.
• Maintain turnover time within 15 minutes, demonstrating familiarity with individual cardiologists' preferences.
• Maintain aseptic surgical techniques during invasive procedures and adhere to universal precautions.
• Verify patient identification and ensure all medical records are accurately labeled.
• Confirm the completion of consents and adherence to low-risk criteria.
• Follow policies and procedures for operation, troubleshooting, quality control, and archival systems.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
• Experience with permanent pacemaker placement and use of Impella and balloon pumps is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in a Mac lab environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC system is advantageous.

Education and Certifications

• Maintain IABP Certification.
• Effectively pass the Monitor Technician Certification and Annual Telemetry Review.
• BLS Certification required.
• Radiology certification is mandatory.

Schedule Information

• Location: City, State
• Shift: Day Shift - 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM
• Hours per Week: 40 (4x10)
• Weekend Requirement: Weekends as needed
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays required (1 summer, 1 winter)
• Float Requirement: No float required
