Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Med Surg Tele Registered Nurse to join our team on a contract basis. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care in various units, including General Surgery, Trauma, Vascular, Wound, and Plastics departments.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the East Tower, catering to patients undergoing general surgery, trauma, and vascular procedures.
• Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level as needed.
• Manage a patient load of approximately 4-5 patients per shift.
• Work 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, totaling 36 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry setting.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in IV therapy, telemetry, and intermediate nursing skills.
• Prior experience with the Epic electronic health record system is mandatory.

Patient Demographics

The nursing care is primarily focused on adult and geriatric patients, with a daily census of approximately 22 patients in a unit with 26 beds.

Additional Skills Preferred

• IV therapy and phlebotomy
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Patient management for gastrointestinal and renal conditions
• Wound care and management, including the use of wound vacs
