Job Opportunity

Job Summary:

The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. This role includes performing essential job functions related to radiologic technology.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by accurately positioning patients, utilizing immobilization devices, and selecting appropriate technical factors based on individual patient needs.
  • Restrict the radiation beam through cones and collimating devices to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure to unaffected areas of the patient.
  • Conduct portable x-ray examinations in various environments including patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
  • Follow operational procedures for identifying patient films with the name and x-ray number, ensuring correct marking regarding the side of the patient being examined.
  • Develop exposed x-ray films using available processing methods.
  • Complete patient requisitions with appropriate information such as technologist initials, date, number, and size of the film.
  • Maintain an organized x-ray room in accordance with departmental directives.
  • Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist physicians in administering these mixtures to patients.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to scheduling appointments, providing patient instructions, film filing, record maintenance, and patient reception as required.
  • Offer assistance to patients as needed for moving, turning, and transferring onto and off x-ray tables.
  • Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull at least 10 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
  • Assess the needs of the patient population served and adapt care delivery to address specific requirements (e.g., age, culture, language, visual/hearing impairments, etc.), ensuring effective communication with patients, parents, and caregivers.
  • Adhere to the standards outlined in the medical center's organizational competencies.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care facility.
  • Ability to work independently in high-demand areas such as the emergency room and trauma units.
  • Experience in operating room (OR) settings is required.
  • Experience performing portable x-rays is essential.
  • Pediatric experience is preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Fulfillment of clinical and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.) requirements.

Certifications and Licensure:

  • Must possess a valid New Jersey State License.
  • Candidates must meet the requirements for the National Registry and successfully pass the examination.

Schedule:

Shifts: 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM, 4-10 hour shifts, every third weekend, and holidays as needed.
