Position: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Shift Details
Shifts available: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
Weekend schedule and on-call duties will be determined by the facility.
Job Description
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing quality control measures on nuclear medicine equipment. This includes troubleshooting and maintenance to ensure all procedures adhere to quality management programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Consulting with physicians to determine appropriate procedures for effective operations.
- Documenting all laboratory operations, including receipt and disposition of radioactive materials, quality control data, patient procedures, and medical records.
- Exercising judgment in scheduled examinations and procedures to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Providing clinical instruction for Radiology students and residents, ensuring healthcare providers are well-informed.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in nuclear medicine by attending seminars, reading professional journals, and maintaining active participation in professional organizations.
- Maintaining positive relationships with co-workers, physicians, nurses, residents, and patients to promote interdepartmental cooperation and efficient communication.
- Complying with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines affecting Nuclear Medicine, while developing internal controls to promote adherence to laws and accreditation requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 24 months of current experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Experience with Siemens and Spectrum Imaging is highly preferred.
- Active permanent or temporary Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from the Texas Medical Board.
- Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine (N) or CNMT within 6 months of hire.
- Thorough knowledge of nuclear medicine technology, including related chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biomedical sciences.
- Ability to administer intramuscular and intravenous injections and establish intravenous lines.
- Proficient in operating Gamma cameras, including SPECT/CT and PET/CT scanners, along with nuclear medicine computers and cardiac stress equipment.
- Basic knowledge of nuclear medicine therapeutic treatments.
- Fundamental understanding of EKG for performing cardiac studies.
