Position: Registered Nurse - NICU

Shift Information:

• Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a NICU setting
• Patient ratio experience: 1:2-3

Required Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Preferred Skills:

• IV therapy
• Arterial line management
• Central Line/Implanted Line Care
• UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter) Management
• UVC (Umbilical Vein Catheter) Management
• Cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Gastrointestinal feeding (bottle, breast, gavage)
• Placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
• Infection control measures
• Medications including IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
• Management of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
• Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)

Work Environment:

This position will be in a Level III NICU, providing comprehensive care to neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above. The RN will manage various patient conditions including respiratory distress and glucose management, as well as care for neonates requiring surgical or cardiac interventions transferred to the main campus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized care to neonates with a focus on respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease management.
• Administer medications using the medication system, ensuring accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and families using the SBAR method.
• Perform and manage special procedures including arterial and central line management.
• Oversee ventilator settings and necessary adjustments for respiratory management.

Interdisciplinary Support:

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team encompassing physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretarial support.

Additional Information:

• The position requires floating to different units within the organization as needed.
