Position: Neuro ICU Travel Nurse

Location: City, State

Shift Details:

• Day Shift: 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)
• Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:30 - 07:30)
• Every Other Weekend Coverage

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with expertise in Neuro ICU to join our team as a travel nurse. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in neurology nursing and demonstrate proficiency in critical care.

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience.
• Strong Neuro experience is required.
• Preferred experience in a teaching hospital.
• Preferred experience in a Trauma Level I setting.
• Travel experience is required; first-time travelers will be screened.

Certifications:

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Skills:

• IV Therapy and Accessing/Managing Ports
• Central Line and Arterial Line Management
• PICC Line Management and Starting/Maintaining IVs
• Ventilator Management and Care for Ventilated Patients
• Neurological Monitoring including ICP monitoring and EVD placement
• Interpreting and managing dysrhythmias

Patient Care:

The patient population includes individuals with:

• Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
• Subarachnoid hemorrhages
• Seizures
• Neuromuscular diseases (e.g., myasthenia gravis, Guillain-Barré syndrome)
• Meningitis
• Post-operative neurosurgery patients

Work Environment:

This position requires floating to different units within the organization as needed. The nursing staff will collaborate with various interdisciplinary teams, including:

• Physical Therapy
• Respiratory Services
• Social Services
• Pharmacy
• Rapid Response Teams

Patient Ratios:

• Days: 1:2
• Nights: 1:2
• Weekends: 1:2
