Job Opportunity

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Float

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in float nursing. This position requires a flexible and adaptable individual willing to work various units based on patient care needs.

Shift Information

  • Shifts: 4x12 hour shifts, 48 hours per week (36-hour workweek available upon request)
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Work 1-2 out of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)

Unit Information

  • Bed Size: 130
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:6
  • Conduct tele readings and manage various drips including:
    • Heparin
    • Insulin
    • Lasix
    • Amiodarone
    • Diltiazem
    • Digoxin
  • Required to float across multiple units including Med/Surg, Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and post-procedural areas as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 24 months of experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med/Surg, or Telemetry nursing
  • First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of hospital or medical center experience
  • Proficient in administering and managing IV drips such as heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin
  • Must be able to proficiently read EKG/ECG strips and perform all related telemetry duties
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system is required
  • Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment certification is mandatory during onboarding
  • De-escalation certification (CPI, MOAB, MAB, SAMA) is preferred, but can be obtained during onboarding
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification is a nice-to-have and can also be acquired during onboarding

Licensure Requirements

  • Active Iowa or compact/multi-state nursing license required
  • ACLS and BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross is mandatory
