Position Details
Join our team as a Registered Nurse specializing in ICU care. This position is based in a 5th West Intermediate Care Unit, focusing on providing exceptional patient care.

- Travel Experience Required: No

- Patient Ratios: 1:3 for both day and night shifts
- Float Requirement: Yes, to sister unit (ICCU)
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Orientation Hours: 24
- Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Daily Census: 18 patients

- Experience with arterial line management
- Titration of vasoactive drips
- Telemetry monitoring
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- IV therapy and phlebotomy
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- Peripheral line care and management
- Chest tube management
- Tracheostomy care and management
- Non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP)
- Isolation precautions and PPE
Work Environment
This unit accommodates a mix of complex patient cases, including post rapid response team patients, those in respiratory distress, and patients with unstable hemodynamics. Common diagnoses include GI bleeds, post-operative care across various surgical specialties, and pre/post OB complications.
Special Equipment
Nurses will utilize bedside telemetry monitors, A-lines, BIPAPs, and chest tubes. Please note that the unit does not have ventilators.
Interdisciplinary Support
Support is available from various teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
Additional Information
The unit operates under a strict policy regarding requests for time off after booking. RTO requests can be submitted but must adhere to stated limits. All staff must complete hospital orientation and pass EKG testing prior to starting.
