Position: Echo Tech

Location: Janesville, WI

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 11am - 7pm. Weekend rotation on-call every 7 weeks.

Job Duties

• Produce two or three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of the heart and related structures for physician review in diagnosing heart disease.
• Participate in the on-call roster and be flexible with scheduling as required.
• Perform echocardiographic examinations with a focus on quality, utilizing clinical judgment to determine the necessity for additional testing protocols.
• Assess, prepare, and execute echocardiographic examinations including M-mode, 2D and 3D Doppler, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms.
• Provide emotional support and ensure the physical comfort and safety of patients and visitors.
• Maintain echocardiography equipment and examination areas in optimal working condition.
• Conduct echocardiograms in line with established imaging protocols and ASE standards, ensuring high quality and safe patient care.
• Actively engage in adult echocardiography, stress echocardiography, and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), with potential involvement in pediatric cases.
• Recognize arrhythmias and notify the physician of any abnormalities such as acute MI, complete heart block, wide QRS, tachycardia, or a heart rate exceeding 140 bpm.
• Assess the quality of electrocardiographic and echocardiography recordings and address deficiencies where possible; document any uncorrected issues.
• Provide the physician with technical comments regarding diagnostic findings post-echocardiogram and discuss any discrepancies as needed.
• Document patient and procedural information accurately in the patient medical record, including history forms and ensuring an accuracy rate of 98% for charges.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, ensuring all information is documented appropriately in the patient's record.
• Respond effectively to emergency situations.
• Utilize equipment in accordance with established procedures, consulting manuals as necessary. Notify the coordinator/manager of required repairs and process related paperwork.

Education

• Associate Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program.

Certification / Licensure

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) required.

Monday through Friday, 11am - 7pm. Weekend on-call rotation every 7 weeks.
