Description
Position Summary
The Occupational Therapist position provides quality occupational therapy services to a diverse patient population, primarily comprising Native American individuals. The role involves rehabilitation for patients with various developmental, cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities through the planning and administration of medically prescribed occupational therapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluation and test results for patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly.
- Develop occupational therapy treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and set realistic treatment goals based on patient evaluations and diagnoses.
- Document patient care services in electronic health records (EHR) accurately and timely.
- Evaluate patient progress by observing and noting changes, making necessary adjustments to therapy plans.
- Promote maximum independence by designing and implementing therapies tailored to individual patient goals and needs.
- Oversee the operation and organization of the Occupational Therapy program for both outpatient and inpatient services.
- Provide specialty services such as custom orthoses, sensory integration, cognitive treatment, and activities of daily living support.
- Facilitate specialty clinics which may include Spinal Cord, Functional, Geriatric, and Assistive Technology evaluations.
- Assist in the direction and development of the occupational therapy service, ensuring quality improvement and compliance with safety regulations.
- Comply with the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and professional standards set forth by relevant associations.
- Provide training and educational in-services for students and staff.
- Consult with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, including physicians, nurses, and social workers.
- Maintain Medical Staff Credentialing Core Privileges.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a school accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association's Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Licensure
- A valid, current, and unrestricted license from the American Occupational Therapy Association and Arizona Department of Health Licensure, or eligibility for licensure in Arizona.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Strong orthopedic skills are essential, as the majority of patients will require orthopedic care.
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. Holiday coverage may be required.
