Position Overview

This position involves performing breast imaging procedures such as mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and assisting with breast ultrasound biopsies. Adherence to MQSA and ACR guidelines in breast imaging is essential.

Essential Job Functions

• Demonstrate knowledge of breast anatomy, pathological conditions, and safe radiation administration.
• Review patient requisitions for examination consistency with clinical diagnoses and ensure all demographic information is accurate.
• Maintain working knowledge of all mammography and stereotactic equipment, examination protocols, and procedures requiring contrast agents and sterile techniques.
• Conduct and document quality control to ensure equipment meets safety standards per MQSA and ACR guidelines.
• Effectively communicate and educate patients before, during, and after breast imaging procedures to guide them through their breast health journey.
• Review and perform breast imaging examinations for technical accuracy, and present completed examinations to radiologists while communicating relevant data to the patient care team.
• Schedule appointments for breast imaging and assist with coordinating exams for quality patient care.
• Assist in managing departmental workflow to complete assignments and ensure proper patient charges.
• Organize, monitor, and order medical supply inventory to promote cost-effective operational spending.
• Contribute to departmental success by collaborating as a team player.
• Promote breast health education by assisting in organizational events.
• Participate in the orientation and training of new employees and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain 24 CEU credits in accordance with A.R.R.T. guidelines every two years and keep CPR certification current.
• Model principles of a Just Culture and uphold organizational values.
• Perform other duties as assigned while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Experience Requirements

Preferred candidates will have at least 1 year of experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Licensing and Certifications

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification with a Mammography (M) credential is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Computer and Communication Skills

Candidates must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment. Proficiency in the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking, is necessary.

Physical Demands

This position may involve potential hazards typical of the healthcare environment, such as radiation exposure and biological hazards. A Safety Management program is in place to address these issues.
