Position: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Unit: LDRP

• Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00) / Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Patient Ratios: Days: 1:3, Nights: 1:3, Weekends: 1:3
• Float Required: Yes (may float to acute care units as needed)
• Weekend Coverage: Every Other Weekend (2 shifts per contract)
• Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 request
• Orientation Hours: 36

Qualifications:

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 1 year LDRP experience required; 2 years preferred.
• Certifications:
  • BLS
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Skills:
  • Pain Management
  • Epidural Anesthesia
• Charting System: Epic required
• Travel Experience: Not required

Work Settings:

• LDRP
• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Adults
• Daily Census: 2-5 patients
• Number of Rooms: 10
• Number of Beds: 10

Patient Care Responsibilities:

• Administer medications including Magnesium Sulfate and Pitocin (oxytocin)
• Conduct antepartum care and procedures such as Non-Stress Tests (NST) and sterile vaginal exams
• Triage obstetrical patients using Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
• Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Maintain 1:1 patient care during active labor and 1:3 postpartum as per AWHONN staffing standards
