Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Stepdown care. The RN will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment, focusing on patients transitioning from intensive care.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize clinical judgment skills to assess, diagnose, and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions.
- Provide care within the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), managing a diverse patient population including those undergoing procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers.
- Assist in the recovery and discharge processes, particularly for open-heart surgery patients.
- Specialize in caring for patients with congestive heart failure and those undergoing electrophysiology studies.
- Contribute to ongoing research efforts by collaborating with the NISUS research department on national clinical trials.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Stepdown care is required.
- Proficient in cardiac care and comfortable with EKG interpretation.
- Ability to float to similar units as needed.
- Current Michigan RN license required.
- Certification in ACLS and BLS is mandatory.
Work Schedule
- 36-hour guarantee shift schedule.
- Every other weekend work is required.

The Stepdown unit is a fast-paced environment that provides a range of medical surgical care including general and vascular surgeries, bariatric procedures, plastic surgeries, and serves as the hospital's stroke unit. The focus on patient-centered care ensures high standards of quality and safety in delivering exceptional outcomes.
