Position: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Description

The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for effectively screening, evaluating, and rehabilitating patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders. This role involves developing appropriate plans of care that adhere to all regulatory and clinical practice standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
  • Assess patient progress and adjust treatments in accordance with regulatory and clinical requirements.
  • Evaluate treatment outcomes for effectiveness, modifying services based on patient evaluations and referring as necessary.
  • Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers concerning speech disorders.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding patient status, challenges, and treatment plans.
  • Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Document all clinically and regulatory required information in the electronic documentation system and maintain patient records according to company policy.
  • Accurately record treatment minutes for services rendered per all relevant guidelines.
  • Participate in required meetings, including patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and rehabilitation meetings.
  • Engage in mandatory trainings, in-services, and conferences.
  • Coordinate the acquisition of necessary Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and supplies as per regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and support Clinical Fellows (CFY) or Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Adhere to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) standards and state practice acts, as well as the code of conduct and ethics throughout professional practice.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of Speech-Language Pathology experience is required.
  • Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
  • A valid Massachusetts State License is required.
  • Must hold certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC).
  • New graduates are welcome to apply as long as they have Level II experience, and not just Level I observation experience.
