Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Medical Oncology and Benign Hematology unit. This position is for Night shifts (3x12-Hour: 19:00 - 07:30) with a focus on providing exceptional patient care to adults and geriatric patients undergoing treatment for various solid tumor cancers.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Night (3x12-Hour)
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling available with variable weekend shifts based on unit needs
• Orientation: 72 hours of orientation, including a combination of daytime training and hands-on unit experience

Experience Requirements

Qualified candidates must possess the following:

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of current experience in MS/Tele specialty
• Oncology experience is preferred but not required

Core Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with solid tumor cancers throughout their treatment journey
• Administering chemotherapy and managing associated patient care needs
• Monitoring patient conditions through telemetry and interpreting dysrhythmias
• Implementing infection prevention protocols and fall prevention measures
• Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes

Required Certifications and Skills

To be considered for this role, candidates must hold the following certifications and possess requisite skills:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Familiarity with computerized charting systems, specifically EPIC
• Preferred skills include administration of chemotherapy and cardiac monitoring

Patient Demographics

This position involves caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including:

• Breast Cancer
• Lung Cancer
• Prostate Cancer
• Pancreatic Cancer
• Colon Cancer
• Esophageal Cancer
• Encounter for antineoplastic chemotherapy

Unit Information

The unit is designed to support patients across their cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment to end-of-life care. Special equipment utilized includes:

• GE telemetry monitoring system
• Bladder scanners
• Alaris pumps
• Stryker beds
