Position: Respiratory Therapist - NICU

Location: Seattle, WA

Overview:

Seeking a skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapist specialized in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a NICU Level III or IV unit and will demonstrate proficiency in various advanced respiratory techniques and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide respiratory care to patients in a NICU setting, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.
• Utilize advanced ventilatory support and equipment, including BiPAP, CPAP, high-frequency jet ventilators, and oscillating ventilators.
• Monitor and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) while manipulating ventilatory settings based on patient needs.
• Assist in high-risk deliveries and perform procedures such as intubation (neonatal) and extubation.
• Administer medications, including Nitric Oxide, in accordance with established protocols.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team comprising physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Educate patients and families regarding respiratory conditions and treatment plans.

Qualifications:

• Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in Washington State.
• Certification in ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS is preferred.
• Experience in advanced neonatal procedures and care for conditions such as ARDS, COVID-19, and cystic fibrosis is highly desirable.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
• Must be willing to float between departments and adapt to the needs of the facility.

Skills:

• Proficient in the use of high-flow nasal cannulas and other oxygen therapy devices.
• Experience in troubleshooting ventilator alarms and weaning patients from mechanical ventilation.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Daily Census and Support:

Responsible for managing a daily patient census of approximately 300. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more.

Special Requirements:

• Must have experience with nitric oxide therapy and competency in jet and oscillator ventilation.
• Availability to work varied shifts and maintain a flexible schedule.
