Position: MRI Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled MRI Technician to join our healthcare team. This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule with shifts from 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The candidate will be responsible for performing various MRI procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MRI scans of the abdomen, pelvis, brain, spine, and musculoskeletal areas.
• Administer contrast media as needed and ensure patient comfort during procedures.
• Maintain equipment and ensure it is functioning properly.
• Adhere to isolation precautions and radiation safety protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Utilize imaging systems including GE and PACS for diagnostic purposes.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Active New York State License required upon start.
• ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification and BLS certification required.
• MRI certification is preferred.
• Preferred experience in a community hospital setting and trauma environments (Level I or II).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in MRI technology.

Skills Required

• Proficient in performing abdominal, pelvic, head, neck, and spinal MRI scans.
• Experience with advanced imaging techniques such as MRA, MRV, and MRCP.
• Knowledge of processing and analyzing MRI images, including T-1 and T-2 weighted images.
• Ability to start peripheral IVs and prepare for contrast media administration.
• Demonstrated capability in managing isolation precautions and PPE.

Work Environment

The MRI Technician will work in various settings including adult acute care, pediatric outpatient, and ER/trauma. The facility has a total of 120 beds and serves a diverse patient population, including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.

Patient Care

• Manage patient ratios of 1:2 during day shifts, with varying ratios for nights and weekends.
• Handle approximately 20 visits per day.

Orientation and Additional Information

All successful candidates will undergo an orientation process of 8 hours to familiarize themselves with facility protocols and procedures.
