Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join our Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for night shifts. This role requires a focus on patient care within a fast-paced environment, offering significant opportunities for professional growth and development.

Unit Details

• Unit: 18 South - Medical PCU
• Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:3
  • Nights: 1:3
  • Weekends: 1:3
• Patient Age Groups: Adults
• Expected Weekend Coverage: Every Other Weekend (4 shifts for every 4 weeks)
• Orientation Hours: 36

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PCU setting
• Certifications:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Charting System: Experience with Epic is required
• Teaching Hospital Experience: Required
• Trauma Level Experience: Level I and/or Level II experience preferred

Required Skills

• IV Therapy/Phlebotomy
• Telemetry Monitoring
• Respiratory care, including BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Chest tube management
• Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Tracheostomy care
• Central and Peripheral IV line management
• Titrate cardiac drips
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Additional Information

This position requires the willingness to float to other units within the organization as necessary. The role involves caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses, with a focus on cardiac specialization and chronic ventilated patient management, including post-lung transplant care.
