Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our respiratory services team. Under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services and technical supervisors, you will provide and administer comprehensive respiratory care and supportive equipment as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy under medical direction, focusing on the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies.
• Assist with intubation and manage ventilator setup and operation.
• Collect and analyze patient information to evaluate needs, including disease education and consultations with healthcare professionals as necessary.
• Build rapport with patients and caregivers to foster an optimal environment for achieving healthcare goals.
• Educate patients and caregivers based on identified needs, ensuring information is clear and understandable.
• Complete additional duties and projects as required.
• Maintain adherence to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
• Meet physical demands including lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing as needed.
• Engage in regular communication with medical personnel and visitors.

Qualifications

Experience

• 1+ year of recent experience as a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required.
• 1+ year of experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is required.
• Previous experience with ventilators is essential.
• Willingness to float to adult ICU areas, intermediate care, and basic intermediate care floors is necessary.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy is required.

Certifications & Licensure

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA.
• Current and valid New Jersey Respiratory Care license.
• Current and valid National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.

Schedule

This position requires availability for a 12-hour night shift from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, three times per week, including every other weekend and holidays. This is a 13-week contract position.
