Position Summary
This position serves a dual role as both a caregiver and care manager. As a caregiver, the RN is responsible for a designated group of patients during a specified timeframe, utilizing the Nursing Process to implement personalized care. In the capacity of care manager, the RN directs and oversees the work of other caregivers, including nurses and non-nurses, through effective delegation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of patient care outcomes. The RN is expected to fully comprehend the operations of Patient Care Services and to make informed decisions using sound judgment in various situations.

Essential Functions
- Perform assessments and data collection focusing on the physiological, psychosocial, and cognitive status of patients.
- Implement care through knowledgeable and consistent application of established procedures and policies.
- Identify patient learning needs and readiness, providing education in line with care plans.
- Document patient care activities in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
- Supervise and delegate patient care activities effectively and ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Organize and prioritize tasks utilizing sound critical thinking skills.
- Act as a charge nurse, coordinating patient assignments and serving as a resource for staff.
- Maintain professional development through continued education and engagement in field advancements.
- Adhere to safety protocols including infection control and equipment usage.
- Conduct transactions with team members and support groups respectfully and efficiently.
- Uphold a professional demeanor and appearance that aligns with organizational standards.
Work Environment
This position reports to the Nursing Department Director, House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, and other designated supervisory staff. The role involves close collaboration with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient care outcomes.
Education & Experience
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN licensure in the state of Washington.
- BLS Certification at the Healthcare Provider level to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Preferred experience as an acute care registered nurse, with a minimum of one year in specialty nursing departments.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to perform comprehensive nursing functions including assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient care.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with a focus on logical decision-making.
- Demonstrated accountability within legal and ethical nursing practices.
- Effective crisis management skills.
- Competency in providing care across various age groups.
- Proficient use of necessary equipment as per departmental requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, reach, push, and pull as needed.
