Shift Notes:

• 36 hour guarantee
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown specialty team. This role requires clinical judgment and a commitment to providing high-quality care to patients with cardiovascular conditions. You will be an essential member of the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), which handles over 4,000 cardiology patients annually. Our team specializes in various procedures, including PTCA, stenting, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers. Additionally, we care for approximately 300 open-heart surgery patients within 18-24 hours post-operation.

The CVU is renowned for its excellence, having been awarded a Silver level Beacon Award in 2014 and recognized as a Top 50 Heart Hospital in the United States. Our leadership, medical staff, and colleagues work collaboratively to demonstrate outstanding performance in patient care and community service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions.
• Cared for patients with congestive heart failure and manage electrophysiology studies.
• Participate actively in the NISUS research department's clinical trials.
• Deliver patient-centered care focused on safety and positive outcomes.
• Contribute to a collaborative environment with all members of the interdisciplinary care team.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of Stepdown experience.
• Proficiency in Cardiac care.
• Comfortable interpreting EKGs.
• Willingness to float to similar units as needed.
• Current ACLS and BLS certification.
• Valid Michigan nursing license.

About the Unit:

The Stepdown unit is a dynamic 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit catering to a diverse patient population, including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, and those requiring trauma care. As the designated stroke unit of the hospital, it provides a fast-paced, challenging environment with ample opportunities for professional growth and learning.

Nursing practice on this unit emphasizes patient-centered care and employs evidence-based approaches to ensure quality outcomes. Our unit fosters teamwork and positivity through an active Unit Based Council promoting a healthy work environment. New team members receive comprehensive support during their orientation to facilitate their transition into the nursing practice.
