• Night Shift: 5x8-Hour (23:00 - 07:00)
• Includes weekends and holiday coverage

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides comprehensive care to patients recovering from anesthesia. The role requires the ability to manage patient care, promote safety, and implement effective nursing interventions tailored to varying patient needs.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant nursing setting
• Certifications:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Preferred Experience:
  • Level I Trauma experience
  • Surgical cases in various specialties including:
    • Bariatrics
    • Cardiac
    • ENT
    • General Surgery
    • Gynecology
    • Neuro
    • Ophthalmology
    • Orthopedics
    • Vascular

Core Skills:

• IV therapy/Phlebotomy
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Care of ventilated patients
• Dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Pain assessment and management
• PCA pump management
• Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol
• RASS (Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale) management

Work Environment:

The PACU unit consists of 20 beds and operates in an inpatient setting, providing interdisciplinary support from teams including IV, Respiratory Services, and Rapid Response Teams. Patient ratios are maintained at 1:2 for days, nights, and weekends.

Orientation:

36 hours of orientation will be provided to ensure successful onboarding into the PACU team.

Responsibilities:

As a Registered Nurse in the PACU, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal recovery post-anesthesia, monitoring patient vitals, implementing care plans, and providing emotional support to patients and their families.
