Description
Position: Cardiovascular Technologist
Job Summary:
The Cardiovascular Technologist will assist physicians with a variety of invasive cardiac procedures, including peripheral diagnostics and therapeutic interventions. Key responsibilities include assisting with the placement of temporary and permanent pacemakers, as well as circulatory support devices such as IABP and Impella.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize equipment and sterile trays for each procedure.
- Assist the procedure room team with patient monitoring setup and positioning.
- Calibrate and test transducers to ensure accurate pressure readings.
- Support physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Operate power injectors and associated sterile support equipment.
- Maneuver table controls as requested by physicians; specifically, maneuver fluoroscopy as requested by Radiology Technologist (RT).
- Calibrate hemodynamic monitoring equipment and gather, calculate, and analyze hemodynamic data during procedures.
- Calculate and document cardiac output and oximetry readings.
- Utilize and maintain digital cine technology according to protocols for the storage and retrieval of patient images and records.
- Assist with vascular access, sheath removal, and hemostatic closure devices while ensuring hemostasis at the access site.
- Manage inventory control and maintain appropriate levels of required equipment for procedures.
- Comply with practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS).
- Operate equipment safely, preparing and caring for it while ensuring supplies are returned as needed.
- Participate in catheterization lab on-call responsibilities in line with organizational policy and procedures.
- Apply radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site.
- Recognize and interpret various cardiac arrhythmias.
- Assist with the maintenance, calibration, and routine evaluation of diagnostic and technical equipment.
Schedule:
Shifts available: 11 AM - 7:30 PM or 9 AM - 7:30 PM; Options for 5x8 or 4x10 hour workweeks. Availability for weekends and holidays may be required.
Experience:
Experience in a Cath lab or Electrophysiology setting is required.
Skills:
- Knowledge of intra-procedure mapping, ablation, and implant devices in electrophysiology.
- Proficient in sterile scrub techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Education:
- Required Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technologist program.
- OR Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program.
- OR Associates degree in Applied Science (AAS).
Certifications & Licensure:
- AHA BLS certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within three months of employment.
- RCIS exam certification from CCI or Radiologic Technologist License within one year of hire.
