Position: Registered Nurse - Med Surg II

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Med Surg II unit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Medical/Surgical nursing and Telemetry, with the ability to provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor patient vital signs and report changes to the healthcare team.
• Provide comprehensive patient care, including pre and post-operative management.
• Utilize telemetry to monitor cardiac patients and respond to emergencies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the Epic charting system.
• Participate in storm and hurricane response teams as required.

Shift Details

Night Shift: 3x12 hours (18:45 - 07:15)

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Med/Surg and Telemetry.
• Preferred: Previous charge experience.
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS. ACLS is preferred.
• Experience with Epic charting system is preferred.
• Community hospital experience is preferred.

Skills

• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills.
• Experience with blood product administration and management of central and peripheral lines.
• Knowledge of gastrointestinal care, including colostomy/ileostomy management and feeding tube care.
• Experience with respiratory management including BiPAP and CPAP.
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias within a telemetry setting.
• Experience with wound care and isolation precautions.

Patient Population

The unit serves adult and geriatric patients with a range of diagnoses, including but not limited to:

• Diabetes
• Dementia
• COPD
• Heart failure
• Post-operative recovery cases
• Renal failure
• COVID-19 and pneumonia

Additional Information

• Patient Ratios: 1:6 during day and night shifts; 1:5 on weekends.
• Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
• Orientation hours: 24 hours.
• Scrubs: Navy Blue or White.
