Job Opportunity: Cardiac Sonographer

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Cardiac Sonographer to perform clinical adult cardiac ultrasound diagnostic procedures (echocardiography). This role involves assessing both basic and advanced cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology, as well as generating preliminary reports for interpretation by a cardiologist.

Shift Information

Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Fridays are required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Cardiovascular Technology from a CAAHEP accredited program or a Health Science Program
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification
  • At least six (6) months of clinical training in cardiac ultrasound or comparable experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of post-graduation experience in cardiac ultrasound
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform routine two-dimensional echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, and emergent echograms in accordance with standard practices.
  • Utilize ultrasound enhancing agents (UEAs) and agitated saline as clinically needed.
  • Provide echocardiography services at various locations as required, which may include variable shifts and weekends.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it remains in working order, and report any malfunctions.
  • Review patient's electronic medical records to gather relevant information prior to performing examinations.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for cardiologist review, including comparisons with previous studies.
  • Participate in professional education, lab meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the reaccreditation process and meet the quality standards of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission of Echocardiography (IAC-Echo).
  • Document all information necessary for the accurate interpretation and reporting of exams.

Schedule Requirements

This position requires regular and consistent attendance, including potential work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, along with weekend and after-hours shifts when necessary.

Exposures

This position may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, various chemicals and medications, and contact with infectious diseases.
